The First Lady of Charters Towers was built in 1888, the Royal offers a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Situated in the heart of the township, the Royal is within a short walk to shops, restaurants, medical centre, visitor’s information centre and licensed venues.
The room configuration is excellent for group bookings and the foyer can be used for social gatherings. Room 7 is redecorated and set out as a bridal suite which can also be used as a Valentines, Birthday/Anniversary or V.I.P. room

Move yourself Trailer Hire (MYTH). The company rents space and does all the servicing of the trailers. The hotel collects the hireage fees and receives a commission.

Charters Towers is a one and a half hours drive west of Townsville. Many mines operate in the area, this has an effect on local accommodation demand. The Royal Private Hotel can maintain regular occupancy from these local ventures.
In 1888 that local architect W.G. Smith contracted Ben Toll to construct the two storey brick building that stands today at a cost of 7,000 pounds. Since 1949, the Royal Private Hotel has been primarily utilised as a guest house, without a liquor license. Annie McGuinness operated the hotel for over 50 years.
